Today, January 10, a briefing was held at the Agency for Information and Mass Communications under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the participation of the head of the press service of the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sh. Akhmatov.
At the briefing, the head of the press service of the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sh. Akhmatov noted that in 2021 the head of the country set specific tasks for the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications.
One of the most important factors in the development of the digital economy is the creation of a telecommunications infrastructure.
In order to develop telecommunications networks, an additional
50,000 kilometers of fiber optic lines were laid, and as a result, their total length was increased to
118,000 kilometers, about
67 percent of settlements received access to high-speed communications. In subsequent years, work will continue to expand fiber-optic communication lines.
The total capacity of equipment for the provision of Internet services for the population reached
3.6 million.
Currently, the total capacity of international communication channels is
1,800 Gbps, and following the results of projects planned for implementation, by the end of 2022, this figure will be increased to
3,200 Gbps.
In 2021, the total throughput between regions and districts was increased by
1.5 times.
